南町奉行所の同心を父に持つ喜多弥十郎は、両替屋泉州屋の娘お珠という許嫁がいたが、酒と女と博打に目がない道楽者だった。奉行所から盗まれた犯罪書類を取り返すべく、遊び人に変装した弥十郎は箱根の福乃屋に潜入し、泊まり客の中から犯人を捜すことにする。福乃屋には許嫁で捕物マニアのお珠が女中になりすまして現れ、弥十郎とともに捜査をすることになった。だがそこで相次いで殺人事件が起こり…。
Kita Yajuro, whose father was a deputy in the Minamimachi Magistrate’s Office, had a daughter-in-law named Oju, a daughter of Senshuya, a money changer, but she was an easy-going person with a penchant for liquor, women, and gambling. In order to recover criminal documents stolen from the magistrate’s office, Yajuro disguises himself as a playboy and sneaks into Fukunoya in Hakone to search for the culprit among the guests. His wife, Oju, a game enthusiast, shows up at Fukunoya disguised as a maid and joins Yajuro in the investigation. However, a series of murders occur there…
